Research & Initiatives

Gap:

While examining the existing literature I found three main gaps. The existing literature rarely focuses on wellness within the corporate ecosystem and when it does, they often only examine wellness from an administrative perspective, usually with the goal of identifying and troubleshooting issues. The conversation is rarely centered around alignment and whether or not the needs outlined are actually being fulfilled.

Research Question:

What are the intended implications of MAANG company wellness initiatives on the overall wellness of their employees and to the offered initiatives align with their goals?

Findings:

I found that MAANG companies implement wellness initiatives for three specific purposes. What I found for the intended implications of these wellness initiatives were oftentimes implemented to prioritize employees safety, mental, and physical health in order to create and foster a more healthier working environment and for the benefit of the employee in order to continue to retain employees in the long term. This is supported by all of the MAANG companies except Netflix, but these themes are reflected in every other company.

Conclusions:

Alignment is a spectrum, not a binary and throughout this research process I found that some companies would fulfill their wellness goals while others would provide vague language or no standards at all. Services were often provided with large variety and accessible to large ranges of demographics.
